In July 1980, Officer Carl H. “Scooter” Cushman was shot in the line of duty and sustained very serious injury. The injury occurred during the armed robbery and subsequent pursuit of the suspect vehicle. The suspect was currently on parole from Florida DOC. Officer Cushman died in April 11, 1988 as a result of the injuries sustained in this shooting incident.
